Asman Arianto moved to Aceh Tengah in 1998 in pursuit of work in coffee production. He began collecting and processing wet-hulled coffee, which was long the default in Sumatra. He soon switched to other types of processing like fully washed, honey and natural.

In 2018 Asman formed the Ribang Gayo Musara Cooperative to unite coffee farmers and with the goal of offering competitive prices that can help farmers reinvest in their farms and families. Now the benefits for the farmers are not only higher price for their cherry, but an end-of-season second payment premium shared from the profits of higher-quality lots. Plus the cooperative provides training and outreach for farmers in everything from cultivation to processing.

The selectively handpicked cherries are re-selected upon delivery to the wet mill where they are pulped using a disc pulper and then wet fermented for 12 hours. After a further soaking in clean water for 24 hours, the beans are dried on raised beds and covered patios.
